So how will this affect my insurance, driving abroad and travel arrangements?
The simple answer is that all existing arrangements apply up until 31st December 2020. There are therefore no green card or additional licence requirements for driving abroad, no changes to insurances and travel in Europe is not affected.
The next stage will be dependent upon how discussions proceed, and it is likely to be one of the following options:
1. We have agreed a new trade agreement with the EU. Hopefully this would allow driving abroad without additional documentation and no changes to insurance requirements. However, the detail would have to be reviewed.
2. We haven’t agreed a deal but agreed to extend our trading agreement past the 31st December 2020. The present situation would therefore continue.
3. We haven’t agreed a deal and we proceed with a “no deal”. This would cause problems and the requirements for green cards and possible visas for travelling.
We will therefore continue to update our clients as the process develops, but please speak to your account manager if you would like further information.
